LEONARDO MERCURIO

Leonardo Mercurio is a product designer born in 1985, graduating with honors in Product Design from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. Fascinated by the design culture and essential aesthetics of Japanese design, he gained his professional experience at Setsu & Shinobu Ito – Studio ITO Design, where he served as Project Manager for over ten years, overseeing the development of projects in the furniture, lighting, bathroom, and product design sectors. His design approach is born from the combination of functional rigor and attention to detail, aesthetic sensitivity and research into materials, with the aim of creating essential, long-lasting objects capable of establishing an authentic dialogue with people and spaces. In 2018, he won first prize in the Giovanardi / Sprech Agorà Design Textile Design Experience competition with Alvi, a collection of outdoor poufs developed in collaboration with mosaic artist Vera Belikova, in which the mosaic design interacts with the texture of the fabric through a refined interplay of inlays. In 2023, he was selected for the Archiproducts Design Awards longlist with the Tako bar cabinet and wardrobe designed for Conte Casa.
