YEAR 2025 Client: Conte Casa
OKE Nightstand/Cabinet uses a geometric design language that captures the softness and solidity of the Japanese instrument, the "Magewappa." "Jubako" is made of stacked wooden boxes. Half of the bentwood frame is a drawer, which is pulled out using the handle on the top edge. Based on the "Jubako" concept, the same modules can be stacked any number of times, making it a versatile storage unit that can be used as a single or double-tier low nightstand with drawers, or as a seven-tier "Septet" chest for the bedroom to store a week's worth of clothes. The design places importance on the element of craftsmanship created by human hands and is an optimized combination of human wisdom and industrial knowledge in a space that is neither industrial nor artisanal.
